Mozilla announced a new release (version 8.0) for Firefox today, which includes a new Twitter Search feature:

And, I must say, it’s a definite improvement in my (Firefox) user experience.
Since Twitter is one of my top three news sources (if not #1), it’s a nice improvement on accessing news – one that should result in a few less clicks to reach news when I want it.

Honestly, it seems to me that it should have been incorporated as a standard feature long ago and don’t see why a deal wasn’t reached sooner. Regardless, I’m happy one was reached.
To download Firefox for yourself or update to the current release, go here.
Once you’ve completed your update, you’ll be greeted with this handy “Select Your Add-ons” dialog box, allowing you to customize your add-ons’ state prior to launching Firefox (instead of having to launch, deactivate and then relaunch for the changes to take effect):

Finally, after launch of Firefox is complete, you’re greeted with the standard Mozilla greeting and imagery…

Our appreciation to the folks at Mozilla/Firefox for their continued contributions to Open Source, and in my opinion, the best browser available. Not a strong exit to any post I’m sure, but will have to save the Browser Wars discussion for another day…
